A Castle, a Dinner Party… and Possibly the Apocalypse?
The film is going to be shot in the beautiful Schönow Castle in Brandenburg, Germany.
Schönow Castle is a striking neo-Gothic castle built in the 1840s in the small town of Schönow in the historic Uckermark region. The estate has passed through several fascinating chapters of history—from the Von Sydow family in the 18th century to later owners such as chamberlain Gustav Karl Kieckebusch and World War I general Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck. The region itself has deep European roots: even Catherine the Great once lived just 20 minutes away, adding another layer of historical intrigue to this remarkable area.
After World War II, many castles in the Uckermark were repurposed or fell into disrepair during the GDR years. Schönow Castle was eventually turned into apartments and a market, before a devastating fire in 1991 left it abandoned for more than two decades. Locals began calling it “Sleeping Beauty.” In 2015, the castle was purchased by Brendan Flynt, who began restoring it with the vision of bringing this elegant landmark back to life.
The atmosphere, history, and slightly mysterious aura of Schönow Castle make it the perfect setting for my dark comedy dinner party where the fate of the world might hang in the balance.
